Reads Live Engine Data, Excellent Value
The media could not be loaded.
Like many I have a “basic” code reader that only tells error codes, which is better than nothing but barely better than nothing. This reader has live engine data – so you can actually read what’s coming off of the sensors in real time, which helps immensely with seeing what is actually going on, and can save you a bunch of time tracking down the actual problem.Case in point: my grandpa’s truck had a P0171, having this reader helped me figure out it was actually a clogged air filter (since i could see not enough air was going through the MAF sensor). For the price this is a good deal.

Not fancy, but gets the job done.
This scanner doesn’t feel durable or well-made. It feels empty/hollow. It packs a punch for the price point though. The screen is small but readable. The buttons are mushy but functional. The cable is short and feels flimsy but sits securely in the OBD2 port. This is a product that is aiming to be the best it can be for the lowest amount of money possible. It achieves that. It will get the job done. I would store it in a spot that will keep it from getting tossed around and take it out only when you need to use it. That is how you can get the most life out of this scanner.

Did not erase codes in 1998 Dodge Ram 1500 V8 5.9L
Bought this device so I didn’t have to go and grab one from my other vehicle. I plugged in the device, I saw the same code for EVAP leak that I get occasionally and I could not reset. It was only bought for that and it was unable to do its function. Returned it and bought another brand.

Love this thing
I actually already have a basic scanner that I find very useful. It has four simple modes and tells me the codes, which I then look up on my phone to find out how much trouble my car is in. I wasn’t looking for a replacement but this one jumped out at me and I wanted to give it a try.I freakin’ love this thing! First, it tells you the codes AND goes ahead and just lists out what the codes mean. That saves me a ton of time. Second, if you are just curious about any code it has a built-in database that you can look them up. Third, if I want to print out the codes I can have it create a QR code, scan it with my phone, and go from there. Fourth, it has a voltage meter to tell you where your battery level is at, which would have been very useful last year when my alternator was (unknown to me) dying and sucking my battery dry. These were just the things I found that I understood, but the reader has a list of other options for those more mechanically-inclined. Absolutely worth the money.
