    Excellent. Would purchase again.

Gosh I wish I had this earlier when we went to Hawaii. This would have been perfect for underwater, hands free fun. We did pick this up to go fishing in Alaska and play around with on vacations hands free. We wanted a name brand LIKE camera that wasn’t as expensive as the name brand kind because even as a family we don’t do that many things that we want to video. We thought for the price we could buy several of these for everyone rather than just one more expensive one. Different views of vacation time. Yay us.This is very compact and not heavy. When you open it, it has the feel of being a cheap little camera. Having said that though, after playing with for a day you can imagine the fun we have had with it and the uses we have thought of it. We have put it on our dog’s collar and have clipped it to our belt. This was very easy to use. The camera was mostly intuitive and easy to work with. However, if you do need them, the directions were well written but not complex. They were mostly pictures showing you how to mount this camera various ways and one booklet for the remote. We were pleasantly surprised at the picture quality. The quality of the photos we took and threw up on our computer screen were fine for printing smaller photos (which is what we’re going to do with the photos). It comes with two batteries and the charger is set up so that you can charge them both at the same time. That is nice. Then you can toss them in your bag and take them with you to use.Several things to note-If you want to wear this on your baseball cap, don’t do what we did and look at all the mounts and clips and say ‘oh yeah, that one there will do it’. It is not going to mount on your baseball cap with the accessories they have. We’re going to take an old baseball hat and drill a hole through the brim and mount it that way (Just fyi For you who want to do that). You are not going to be underwater AND record sound. If the waterproof case is on, you are not going to be able to record sound.Third all the little screws are not interchangeable. You can’t take one off of one clip and move it to another. It doesn’t matter because your given plenty for each clip and mount. But it’s worth noting that you can’t interchange most of them. You will need a micro sd card to use this camera. The only negative is that the clip you see doesn’t clip onto your hat and hold the camera straight up. But as I said, we are going to home brew that solution.

    DragonTouch Vision-3 4K Ultra HD…Nifty little camera

It does what I want it to do and does not cost as much as the over-advertised competition (you know which one I mean, starts with G-O & ends with P*R*O). This camera records quality videos with lots of options and fits in much tighter spaces then my Canon pocket camera. Some people go for brand names while others just want something to work as advertised & not cost $$$s.I use the waterproof case with the slotted back because I want to record audio as well as video. I believe that with the solid back the audio would be muffled since its sealed. Now with the slotted back, I removed the gasket because it obviously can’t be waterproof. It is now easier to close & still holds the camera securely. Also, if you attach a strap to the slotted back, the screen is not entirely visible but that’s what the app is for.The other camera holder supplied is not bad but it covers the LEDs on the left side so you cannot see them. Although when using the app, you do not need to see the LEDs or the screen as the app is showing you all the info. While using the app the camera screen goes blank to save battery power & everything is controlled from the app, which is easy to use. There are three LEDs on the camera to tell you what’s going on;_Blue LED on the left side flashes when recording, solid when not recording._Red LED on the side just above the blue one suggests external USB is connected (either for charging the internal battery, connected to a PC, or externally powered)_Red LED on top near the “OK” button is for wifi connectivity (flashing when trying to connect & solid when connected to the app)After the app is downloaded, you do not need to have a wifi signal from the web to use this app with the camera. The wifi signal is just between the camera & your phone. I installed the app on an old android phone so that my personal phone won’t get dirty or damaged during the recordings & then deleted all unnecessary apps including google stuff. The app works just fine on that phone with “airplane mode” activated. One more thing, when the battery is removed, the camera loses the clock/calendar settings even if it only takes you 5 seconds to swap batteries. So you’ll need to reset those at every battery swap if you plan on using the date stamp in your photos or videos. In my experience, the internal batteries last about an hour, so I plan on using an external battery source to power this camera from the android connection in the future. This means I’ll need to cut the waterproof case to have access to that connection or just use the other camera mount.I have tried using the included remote but it has limited functionality, so I prefer to use the app for my purposes & I do not see myself using the remote. So far I am happy with this little camera & might buy another one while they’re still available.

    Pretty good for the price!

First of all, I would like to mention that I have never used an action cam before and I am completely unfamiliar with how they work. With that being said.. I havenโ€™t had much time to play with this camera yet, but I have tested out most of the features and figured out how the buttons work and how to change the settings, etc. the power button on the front is also used as the โ€œmodeโ€ button to change modes between video, photo, action, and settings. I does have WiFi on it which is pretty cool, you can download an app called XDV and you can actually use your phone as the viewing screen and use it to take videos, photos, etc. then you are able to see the media you took and choose to download to your phone or delete them. I tried using it today for the second time and one of the videos kept freezing up, so I think the app may have some bugs that need to be worked out because the video played back fine on the camera.I like that it comes with a TON of accessories! It comes with 2 rechargeable batteries, a battery charger and cord, a ton of different attachments, a remote control, a waterproof casing, a screen cleaning cloth, and probably something else Iโ€™m forgetting lolI did notice that the batteries seem to drain a bit quickly. I charged them completely when I first opened it up. Once you plug the batteries into the charger it will show red lights meanjng they are not charged, then blue lights when they are fully charged. It took a couple hours for the batteries for fully charge. I put one in the camera and started playing with it a little bit, took a couple short videos and a couple pictures.. did the same thing again the next day and noticed already one of the 3 bars on the battery icon on the camera display was gone.Another thing I noticed is that the quality of the picture AFTER it is taken looks much better than it does during the process. At first I was a bit disappointed with the quality when I was taking my first video, but then when I played it back, the quality looked much better! One thing I really wish it did come with is a monopod, but they are pretty easy to find on their own.I bought this to use on a trip to float the river, since it will be my first time and I plan on making lots of memories! I am really hoping this camera will work out well. I have not tested the waterproof casing yet, but I will do that before the trip. I do not have any photos or videos saved from the action cam, but I will update this review with some soon! So far, I think for the price, it seems like a nice little camera for a newbie like me :)You will also need to buy a micro as card separately! The better quality as cars you get, the better quality photos and videos you can get.. just a tip!

    Sound quality sucks

This is a good little camera as far as Picture is concerned but it doesn’t do well at all with sound. So it’s mostly made for silent videos. The slow mo is a good feature. I use this camera for bow hunting so that helps see an arrow impact. Except for the sound which is really not an issue for me it’s a good little camera with a long life battery

Great Quality Small & Light 4K Hero Type Action Camera with Good features

Great cam even not on sale. Real 4k HD quality + 2 batteries. 120 min of recording time minimum. Great wrist band remote control for stop/start included. Multiple mounting options included. I use my spotting scope’s mini tripod with an included base. LOVE the 10? meter water resistant included plastic case. Works as great protection for the camera when storing or transporting it. Great picture (FYI the human eye can only see 1920×1420 resolution max anyway. Full 4k just makes the picture appear more defined & crisp but everyone demands it anyway). This 4k camera is a great inexpensive & similar to the Hero 5 in quality so far. Good if small back display screen that shows mode etc. Lessthan a quarter of the cost of a Hero 5. Buy the recommended 34+ piece mounting kit with it for real versatility. If you run over it or destroy it by accident, you’ll probably be able to pull the video or pictures from the non included SD card & won’t be out $200-$300. Easily mounts to any photo drone or submersible remote controlled drone like a hero & weighs less. So far same great quality 4k picture as any high priced action camera. Uses Sony camera chip & 6 layer glass wide angle lens. Would be 5 stars except for optional mounts not included, however the 2 batteries + the 10? meter water resistant case make up for the limited mounting options. Personally I wouldn’t trust any case to go past 30 feet underwater unless it was made for it specifically. Great addition for any trip, can be used as a dash or security cam if needed, or use as a 2nd or 3rd stationary cam for observation or video-logging. Takes a 64gb SD card max. A larger card option would be nice but it’s enough for 90 minutes in 4k mode without looping easily. Great packaging & standard 3 language small manual. Use it for awhile & just get used to the controls. All major functions are adustable in the water resistant clear plastic case that hasn’t leaked yet but I’ve only taken it down 12-15 feet underwater max as the clear water resistant case snaps shut, doesn’t screw down or actually lock. Mistakes happen with any camera. The extra battery, real 4k recording & the wristband remote are the reasons I bought it. May be used for many different functions or as a main vlog camera & great light sensitivity + basic remote. 4 stars easily.

Wish I had known this before ordering…

I purchased this for a day trip to sea world with the hopes of getting some fun underwater pics and video of our child and friend. It worked well for the intended purpose, but there are a few “fine” points that I wish I had known before I ordered it. I hope this helps someone.I wanted an action cam with a Sony sensor, 16mp photos at minimum, and 4K/30. Here’s what I found out…1) the 4K bitrate is only around 10Mbps. Thats really low. It means that the 4K video will be blocky and lower-than-usuable quality. I also noticed frame skipping, so the 4K footage was mostly garbage. Keep in mind, a higher bit rate means that more information can be recorded per second. A GoPro Hero 5, for example, records 4K at 60Mbps. That’s 6x more information per second. It makes a huge difference.2) the bitrate for 2.7K goes UP to 20Mbps. I don’t understand why, but it looks much better. The video is smooth with no noticeable dropped frames. Basically, this is the highest setting that you would want to use.3) the bitrate for all 1080 and 720 combinations stayed at 20Mbps. For 1080, this is perfectly good for the average person. The audio is always 8K mono AAC (as are many action cams).I also purchased a JinSun camera on Prime Day so that I could compare. Im not about to try to sift through every action cam on Amazon, but I’d really like a higher bitrate recording than the Dragon Touch produced, especially at 2.7K (20Mbps 2.7K shows some artifactwing in faster action sequences). I prefer to shoot at 4K (I shoot Panasonic equipment professionally), but 2.7K is fine for my family stuff. Interestingly, the JinSun 4K/30 cam yielded an 18Mbps 4K (still low) and 2.7K-720p yield a 26Mbps file with 8K mono AAC audio. It does have a noticeably better picture quality.I contacted Dragon Touch about a firmware update to address the low bitrate and really didn’t get much help. Interestingly, the emails came back from Akaso tech support, so I suppose this is just a rebranded Akaso. So, I’ll keep the Dragon Touch for my 9yr old and the JinSun for myself. It’s on par with other cams in this price range and at the asking price, a good value. For the asking price, I feel like the Dragon Touch is a little lacking and I’d look at the JinSun (on sale), instead. Both use the DVX app and have very similar features at similar prices. For the same money, I’ll take the JinSun.

REVIEW UPDATE – Added stars for customer service.

The Video is good, if you are going to be shooting in 1080.. there is no lag or anything, but when you get into 2.7K or 4K it slows down dramatically, so whatever you are going to be filming needs to be stationary, I tried to use it on my motorcycle and the video was really slow and it seemed the camera couldnt handle the 4 K and moving, so I put it in 2.7 on the way back and the same thing.. I did put it in 1080 and it worked.. But that is not what I bought it for.. But for the price I suppose I cant expect a real 4K action cam.. I purchased an apeman action cam for around the same price, and it was great! I even used it on my quadcopter and the picture was great, for some reason they are not around anymore.. and I thought this would be compatible.. Nope.. I ended up just buying the GoPro Herro Session 5.. and I am happy with itREVIEW UPDATE;This company has sent me the new version of their Dragon Cam called AKASO V50 – I have not tried it yet, but I wanted to add a couple stars for a reason, They did send me the new camera without me sending the Dragon Cam back, However I am going to send it back, I cant really use it.. I did have a chance to check out the wifi on the new cam.. Seems to work well… This cam boasts a 4K at 30FPS.. which I hope will work, I will do a complete review on the new cam and see how it works and let you all know… But I did want to commend this company for making this right and sending me out a much better camera in replacement for the Dragon Cam.. Now the only thing I can say about the Dragon Cam.. Is that it works well as a computer camera, so if you have a show or something like that and you want to stream on YouTube or something like that it will work well, But the camera moving around will not work well.. But the V50 looks pretty good, so look for my next review.

    Great action camera for $50

For $50, it’s a fantastic action camera. The name is a bit deceptive making you think it has a touch screen (it doesn’t)… but again, it’s 1/10 the price of a go pro.Video quality is OK but won’t replace a dslr or even an iPhone any time soon. After digging into the footage, 4K recording appears to be completely useless, whereas 2.7K and 1080p are respectable and on par with my old gopro. 4K video records at around 10mbps, appears very choppy, lots of compression artifacts. Where 2.7K and below records closer to 20mbps and appears much more pleasant to watch. 4K timelapse appears a little choppier then 2.7K but I think with some post-processing it might be a lot better as the bitrate is the same. Sound recording is only 15kbps and you might as well turn it off.The interface and menus are pretty intuitive, though if you replace the battery, the date+time will reset to 1/1/18 though other settings appear to be preserved. Phone app can sync the time with one click, but you have to remember to do that. Timelapse mode once turned on will only record video in timelapse and you have to go back into the menu and turn it off to record actual video again. No shortcut. The app makes it much easier but it would be nice to have 1 button enable/disable of the feature, or a separate mode. The screen is fairly high resolution, but the angle of view is very narrow (turn it and the image colors will invert) and can strain your eyes, and I can’t imagine it’ll be particularly good in bright sunlight. The battery door is difficult to remove and completely detaches so I can see it being easy to lose. The speaker is loud and obnoxious with no volume controls or a way to disable it.The accessories it comes with are plentiful, though missing the most useful items, like a suction cup mount or SD card. Those are all the drawbacks I can find after playing around with it for a day, but it’s to be expected for $50. It certainly exceeded my expectations.Overall, I think it’ll be a great little toy to record some memories for our up coming vacation.

The camera that started it all

So this is a very late review but hopefully very helpful to whoever needs it:I got this camera back last year in September to start making video content to put on youtube and let me say for the price, quality and experience working with this product…..it’s a good start up.So let’s start with the pros of it. The product comes with everything that is shown so be prepared for alot of extra pieces to use. The camera itself is easy to set up even if you have absolutely no idea of how to use it. It has everything needed for any setup (helmet mounts, car windshield, chest mount or the default camera stick/floaty if you are using this near water. I have yet to try it out underwater with the waterproof case but hopefully I can update the reveiw when the time comes. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE BUY THE SD CARD, this product does not come with a SD card. Other than that thise are the pros….now for the consUnfortunately as stated before it is a good camera but only for those who are just getting into it. The picture quality has a fee small rough edges and can be difficult to get it at the “right” definition? Still learning. The sound is good but not very clear if the camera isn’t right next to your mouth or if there isn’t a mic connected to it. It can take up alot of natural brightness which could cause the picture quality to be hard to see if in sunlight. Lastly is the batteries, I’ve recently learned through playing outside in the fl heat that if the batteries get warm they can die out very quickly even if they are fully charged so be mindful of this.In all I love it! It definitely got my foot in the door of making better videos for my YouTube and captured other moments of my life. I have recommended this camera to my friends and family members too!

    This Camera is AWESOME!!!

So far so good.Bought this for my son for Christmas, and he absolutely loves it. He has mounted it on his bike and on his remote control truck as well as filmed his hot wheels in action. He kept talking about wanting a GoPro but lets face it, he is 6 and im not spending hundreds on a GoPro, lol. So I found this as an affordable alternative…never owning a GoPro i cannot compare but for the money you cant beat it. This thing takes good quality pics and the video is great as well…the remote video/camera function that can be worn on the wrist is a cool feature and makes using this camera super easy. Controls took a lil getting use to but are pretty simple. It comes with all kinds of different attachments and 2 batteries. Was the perfect Christmas gift for my son and he hasnt put it down.Definitely pick up the recommended 64GB storage card, you will want it. 6 minutes of video in 1080p + 6 pics @ 16MP has consumed roughly 1.4GB in case you wanted some perspective on how much memory is being used. All in all its a good buy, I actually bought a 2nd one as a another gift for my dad…he is a hunter and i figured he could record some of his hunts being it is water proof and all. Hopefully he likes it as well.

Update to: Not really an โ€œactionโ€ camera

Update:After trying different resolutions and comparisons to my old camera and online videos taken with a GoPro 8, I have to correct my original review. This camera is much better than my old camera and compares quite favorably with the GoPro, with the edge going to the GoPro. However considering bang for the buck, this camera is a great buy. I deducted 1 star because the connection between phone & camera tends to be hit and miss. Would recommend to all but professionals.Original: I really wanted to like this camera. It was compact, came with plenty of accessories and even included an extra battery and external charger. However an action camera is made to record โ€œactionโ€ I tried several different resolutions and recording speeds and all the results were the same, poor video quality. Every video seemed โ€œout of focusโ€ Good for slow movement videos, but atvs, boating, skydiving, not so much

Its not a GoPro, But its Damn Good

I purchased this camera along with the Campark 4K camera as well. I really do enjoy these to little gadgets. I think I slightly prefer this cam because of what it comes with. You get a battery doc AND a remote along with all your mounts. Unlike the CamPark (they offer the doc as a gift after you review it and provide the order numberโ€The image and video quality on the cameras are amazing, so long as you know how to set it up.Go into your settings and set the resolution at 1080P/60FPSThe 4K is pretty bad on both cams2k is okay, but the video resolution looks better at 1080pHave the right micro sdIโ€™ll attach a picture of the one I got. Donโ€™t just grab any random one off the shelf. Get one thatโ€™s at least 64gbโ€™s and is V30-V60mps. The faster the card is, the better quality you will get.FYIThere is no image stabilization on either camera. It gets shaky for sureGoPro is an established brand but it now has fierce competitors. And the better technology gets, the better options the consumer will have at a price point that meets their budget.

    Amazing picture

I bought this camera to mount to a drone. It took amazing 1080p video at 60 fps. I tried the 4k @ 30FPS option and the quality seemed just as good although not as fluid which makes sense at 30FPS. I don’t notice much difference on my screen past 1080p so I just use that. I didn’t even know it had a 4k option until it arrived. The microphone seems to only pickup nearby noise or really loud sounds. If you’re talking with an inside voice then you need to be within 10-15 feet of the camera to record any of your speech and still hear it easily on playback. Since my primary use was for a drone it didn’t matter to me, but if you want to record audio you should keep this in mind.It also came with several different mounting pieces. Took me a bit to find the right combination to use so it hung from my drone the way I wanted. Still have several pieces left over including an extra adhesive mount which is great. The battery lasts way longer than I need so I can’t say if it goes the full 1 hour and 30 minutes. My drone only flies 5-7 minutes at a time and I haven’t had to recharge the battery after a few flights though so it works well.It was perfect for my purposes. Picture quality is great. Definitely worth the price.

Used it as a great webcam

I was actually in the market for a webcam. I bought and returned many obviously overpriced and cheaply built webcams. This dragon touch action camera is a great deal. Not only is it a very good a cheaper alternative to overpriced GoPro and all the action features like underwater recording and image stabilization, itโ€™s a great webcam. For setup on a pc, you plug it in with the included USB, and choose Webcam mode, and bam, clear webcam image that is better than most built in laptop cameras and way better than the overpriced webcams you can buy. Downside is the audio isnโ€™t great, so I recommend an external mic, which I would also recommend over any built in mic or webcam anyway. For the price paid, you get 2 batteries, a usb charging cable, a bunch a Velcro straps and brackets to mount this on different vehicles and surfaces. I use the bracket that has tripod screws.I love the size of this camera and the recording quality as it records as high as 4k/60fps. Totally worth the money.Bottom line, great as a GoPro alternative and a very very good alternative to a webcam. Itโ€™s wide lens so just be aware of that.

Very impressed with the quality for the price!

To start off, I love the whole kit that was included. The extra batteries, mounts and the protective case. The first time using it, I took it ice fishing. It didn’t have a clear image in the water. But, when I took pictures or recorded outside the water, they looked very nice. I’m also surprised it can handle the temperature through the ice water. I will be testing it soon for some casual clear water swimming in the middle of the day. The charger charges pretty fast, very handy. Comes with more than one battery to get you going. I may have to get another one just to use as a dash camera soon. Other than that, a fine product for the price. Also for those who think that the error it gives you when you format your card. That’s not an error, it’s just another way it confirms you cleared the card or formatted it. Everything works as it’s supposed to. (Unless you got a lemon camera)

    Not a bad little camera

I bought this for my almost 13 yo daughter for Christmas and she has enjoyed it a lot since then. (it’s been about a month now.) I asked her what she liked and didn’t like about it and overall she is pretty happy. She said the sound is not the best but is a little better if it’s not in it’s plastic case. She said the picture is good but can be fuzzy if your not careful…but being an action camera she expected a little more clarity with movement, but she is still learning, too. Video works good, too, but you have to speak very loud in order to be heard. She was able to figure out how to use it and load things onto the computer on her own but she said deleting things isn’t so easy. I haven’t yet looked to see how it’s done so it may be easy and she just hasn’t discovered out how to do it yet. She hasn’t used most of the accessories but the ones she has have worked well…there are so many she probably won’t use them all in this lifetime, lol. Overall, this is worth every penny plus.

    UPDATED REVIEW: NOT what expected..BUT

UPDATE: Updating review.. A year after first purchasing camera and writing this review we were contacted by the company and was offered and received a brand new camera. We have not had the opportunity to use it snorkeling again but are very impressed with the customer service! Encourage anyone looking for a economy underwater camera to give this one a try.Realize this was a inexpensive camera but we wanted it for Florida vacation. The description stated that is was water proof. It came with a LOT of accessories, none of which we used. We did try to use the remote when camera was attached to diving mask, but it quit working. That was when my husband looked over the directions again and even though the camera is water proof the wrist remote was on water resistant and stopped working immediately after he went under water snorkeling. Why sell a waterproof camera with a water resistant remote? Camera’s video was not not good if we attempted to load video onto our laptop. On the camera video screen it was acceptable. Would recommend going with a more expensive camera if you really want good underwater or action videos.

As good as my old action cam, and more features

I have an older action cam that is very similar, but was only 1080p. I used it for filming snow skiing, flown it on RC airplanes, and scuba diving as deep as 87 feet. This Dragon Touch 4K is even better. Not only is it a 4K camera. I can line up the camera on my ski helmet, using its Wifi transmitter to see what it sees, using my cell phone. I can also start and stop recording by pressing a button on the wrist mounted remote, and take stills from the remote also. I don’t have to take my helmet off to review either. When on rest breaks, I can use the color screen on the back. The screen is bigger and easier to read the menus also. With two batteries in my pack, and a 32GB SD card, I can film all the ski runs for the day, and charge the batteries in the everning for the next day. I put the SD card in an adaptor, or can use the USB cable to upload the footage to my laptop, and be ready to edit. The only negetive thing I have run into is that sometimes I wish the cameras WiFi transmitter would stay on just a little longer for setting up my camera mount. There may be a setting to do that, but I am sure it shuts off to make the batteries last longer.Overall, I am very happy with the quality. If it lasts as well as my older version did, I will be very happy. That one finally had a menu buttons spring give out due to a high speed wipeout.

Seems to be a quality product

I purchased this while it was on sale for $39.99, I waited to write a review until I had a chance to test it with the SD card I purchased as well. The camera works very well. Smooth tracking and good quality picture so far. I purchased the SanDisk 64GB microSDXC UHS-1 Card with Adapter. The card seems to function well with this camera. After much googling it appears the only consensus is that this camera should use a class 10 microSD. Otherwise this one seems to do the trick.I like the wifi function with the XDV app on my phone. Gives extra freedom to an already mobile and very portable device. I will say the protective case has already come in handy. Not 10 minutes after opening the package I dropped the camera from my lap onto my hard floor. No damage or functional issues noticed after extended testing. It took me a while to figure out how all the attachment pieces worked but I think I have them all figured out now and am excited to give them a try. I purchased this to serve as an action camera while hiking as well as a dash cam for my car. I have not had opportunity to test it within my car while driving but I have tested the driving mode and it seems to be functional and working.Having used a gopro in the past this seems like a more cost-effective alternative for the average person.

    get what you pay for

The price for what you get is reasonable. Zoom function makes images blurry. Battery cover is very difficult to take off and put back on – expect this will break soon. It has plenty of attachment hardware but not what we need – a simple clip and wrist band. Wrist band used does not enable easy to use camera by hand. It is a small camera for video of action events. The remote would be a good option for that mode. Video is default – we are looking for a simple point and shoot still pic for grand kids in water. For the price it offers many things it is very light and without the water tight case it would be fragile. protecting the lens in the case requires an additional case. The app is not very user friendly but we have not had the product long to try to use more. Small nimble fingers are required to use the camera. As stated earlier, it has a lot to offer but don’t expect much more than what the priced indicates.

Not all that good as a webcam

I purchased to replace my logitech c920 (non-pro) as a webcam the c920 is as good if not better than this.If you don’t already have a web cam or a very old generic one, this will do nicely for you. I suggest using a long usb cable at least 6ft to give you more options. The bonus to this over a web cam is that with all the mounting options and water proofing you can use it for many more things and for the price. If you are not going all out professional streaming this will be enough. There is no internal storage, you will need a memory card to take it on the go.The included charging dock with two batteries will also give you plenty of time.has 4k,2k, 1080, 720, 4k seems to have some artifact issues. I think this maybe when recording to a memory card as USB doesn’t seem to have that. I only used it this way for about 30 minutes just to play around. there maybe a setting to fix this.Over all, good, not great and the additional accessories make it worth it.

    Lots of accessories…

Update! Wonderful Customer Service! I had some issues with the unit after purchase and left a review. Their customer service rep reached out to me and we were able to resolve the concerns. Thank you!*downgrading rating for now…. I can NOT get this app to work or it to recognize an sd card which makes it pretty useless for what i bought it for. Will correct if i can get it to pair with my phone or read an sd card… just trying to get things to connect is killing the battery in the camera and my phone* I bought this with the intention to mount on our boat and occasionally take into the water. I’ve yet to use it but will update when I do.

    Great value action camera package!

Overall, this is an awesome package at a great price.Great quality and features for a value action camera. Includes a lot of accessories and an easy to follow manual to put them together for your own actionable applications.I initially had a problem with image quality while shooting with the waterproof case. Turns out there is a second adhesive layer on the case’s viewfinder that I did not remove when I first started shooting. If you find that your shots have wavy distortions or that the viewfinder gets surface scratches very easily (e.g., with your fingernail), it is very likely that the adhesive protector still needs to be removed. When you look through the viewfinder, it should appear clear without distortions. However, if you need a replacement waterproof case, it appears there is one available on Amazon with the exact same form factor–“AKASO Waterproof Case for AKASO Brave 4 Action Camera”.A couple of features that aren’t so great here: The English translation on the camera interface isn’t the greatest, but it could be worse. Anyone with a basic command of the English language should be able to figure it out. The date on the camera resets every time the battery is swapped out. For a $50 camera package, these features definitely aren’t deal breakers for me, but just thought I would share with any scrutinizing shoppers out there.I’m super happy with my purchase here, and would recommend this to anyone looking for an action camera.

    Dear god make this stop!

Company has been constantly emailing me. I can’t change subscriptions on these emails either. My biggest hang up for this cam is the pc mode. I use this outside, but usually I am in my studio hooked up to my pc for fast reviews. First, the battery must be in the camera to make it work even if connected to an external power source like the pc. It has destroyed both batteries. Remember the rule about leaving NiCD batteries plugged in while using the device. That’s right, DON’T. I do know some can take that, but these aren’t them. Additionally, in pc mode there is no way to adjust the lighting. So the camera records very dark. Turning up the lighting source won’t work because it simply washes out the other cameras. This may work if all you want to is take it to the pool on a sunny day. Just hope it stays that way, if clouds come in you may think you are night swimming.

    It actually works…

PRO:1. It’s not top of the line, but it works.2. Image stabilization is decent for what you pay.3. If I loose, break, damage, etc. this one, I’m not out a ton of money.CON:1. So many of the attachments, knobs, screws, etc. feel a little on the cheap side, but hey, you get what you pay for.2. I won’t use half of the things in the accessories, but that’s a good problem to have.OTHER:1. BUY if you want an inexpensive version and feel like you may shelf this after a few tries.2. DON’T BUY if you are a real adventure, active, hard corps action junkie, in that case buy the other brand.3. I saw a bunch of these for sale on face book because folks don’t “use them like I thought I would” so can’t hurt to start out less expensive and work you way up.

    Camera Seems well Built

This is my First Action Camera.I have thought of getting something like this for quite a while and well DRAGON TOUCH, With the reviews that i read and the fact that it comes with remote and two batteries is what got me to hit the buy Button. Now i have yet to actully use this camera because i have not been able to work on my car do to weather, I figure doing a small video of working on my car would be pretty fun and then the drive after words.I will say that the camera quality seems pretty solid. I like that it has a rear facing screen and the button’s do not seem to overly complicated. However that being said, my one big issue is that the charger feel’s like it was cheeply made and it is supposed to be a dual battery charger and only one of the two battery bays actully works. Yes i do have it plugged into a proper wall wart with correct power output.i will post another review once i have been able to shoot a few different short vids.So Update:::: After Contacting the seller about the charger issue they not only sent out a new charger but also included 2 additional batteries.

    NO Lens covers..

No question the video and jpegs are excellent. Really amazing performance considering the price. this cam is optimised for 1080 60 fps which is good quality. i have heartburn over 2 issues,, #1 NO LENS COVERS??? Really? id gladly trade some of the extra straps and other gak foe lens protection. a major design failing of this camera is if it somehow ends up on its face it will make contact at exactly the lens middle. See how you like videos with a scratched lens. The same basically holds true of the waterproof housing which is otherwise outstanding. since the camera has a viewfinder your gonna figure out quick when u leave the lens cap on..,, if only you had one..2. WI-FI is a bit strange.. you connect to the external app (maybe/sometimes) by getting to the wifi enable box.. when checked it tells you the log on details but if you leave that menu it shuts off wifi. you actually need to write that stuff down and log on as if it were an access point (which it is)and it will DHCP to your android device.. maybe..Personally its not so big a deal since i have a viewfinder and the wrist remote works well enough( very well)great go pro replacement otherwise

DRAGONTOUCH Action Camera Vision 3 ULTRA HD 4K Review

We received the 4k Ultra HD Sports camera a few days ago and have been using it extensively since it has arrived. It came with a quick reference guide, waterproof case, several other case accessories and mounting pieces for bikes and stuff like that. It also came with a micro USB cable, a charging dock, (Two) 3.7V 1050 mAh batteries, and a controller for the camera. You will need to buy a micro SD card; we bought a 64 GB card (The highest supported by the device) at Target for about $27 bucks. There is an app that you can download for either Apple or Android called “XDV” which allows you to control all features of the camera through the app on your phone via WiFi. You can turn the DRAGONTOUCH WiFI mode on and then connect to it via your cellphone to allow you to control the camera. This is a nice feature however I did notice “lag” when using the app. I’m not sure if this is specific to this device and app or if it was some other variable that I’m unaware of.PROS:Decent battery life and comes with 2 batteries (They seem to charge quite fast)Good quality picture and video. Great that it has the option for 4K Video at 30 FPS.16 MP camera is decent quality for quick shots on the go.Easy and intuitive to use; after about 20 minutes of playing with it I was able to understand how to use all the features.Came with a lot of additional accessories. So far the waterproof case has been excellent and I have stuck a “sticky” mount that was included onto the dash of my car so I can record video while I drive.Driving mode is included that allows you to loop videos at different time intervals in case an accident or something were to happen; it allows you to quickly find the content that you want.CONS:Some of the construction seems a bit cheap; specifically the battery compartment door. While first trying to put in a battery and replace the door we happened to break off a very tiny plastic piece that locks the door into place. Even if we were extremely careful it would have happened eventually due to the construction of it. With that said; the battery door is easily closed with a small piece of tape and even furthermore after you put the case on it makes it a NON issue.Battery life is decent but could be better. Not a big deal though because 2 batteries are included.Doesn’t come with a Micro SD card, that is an additional expense but for the cost of the camera (About $40) bucks you can pick up a 64 GB SD card for $25 bucks and have a great $65 dollar camera.Overall impression of this device is that it is absolutely excellent for what it is. I do not have any other devices to compare it to so far but I am impressed that you can get this type of camera with the quality for this kind of money. We are just a regular couple giving an honest review of our impressions. We would recommend this product for anyone looking to get into the hobby of action cameras without shelling out a $400+ on a brand new GoPro just to drop the hobby and lose interest.

Best camera for this price range!

This is the best camera that isn’t as expensive as a gopro yet better in all avenues than el cheapo Chinese cameras from aliexpress. I used this for airsoft and I did a little bit of research on cameras at this price range because I wanted something that was better than what my friends got from aliexpress and I wasn’t going out of my way to buy an expensive gopro.Build Quality: Feels light and is built primarily with plastic and has a textured groove on the bottom of the camera. The buttons on it feel like buttons and don’t feel mushy or crap. The waterproof case that comes with it is nifty as well. I cannot say it’s durability or ability to block out water/ protect it from objects. Doesn’t feel cheap or not refined. The only knock is that the waterproof case’s button for record is a mushy thing so I can’t tell sometimes if i’m recording or not, and this has caused me to accidentally not record certain moments.Photo/Video Quality: It’s pretty good especially with the image stabilization when I was running around with it for airsoft. The only other 4k option (or above) is the gopro, so that definitely gives this camera an edge when it comes to recording or taking photos. I did not use the 4k option that much because it took a lot of storage and battery life. It could only record 4k at 30fps, and I wanted to have 60fps when recording. I’m not really a sap when it comes to quality of recordings or photos. It could look way better on a higher resolution but you have to wonder is it really worth it vs more battery life or storage to record more.Battery Life/Memory Storage: This is the reason I can’t give it a perfect score, but yet can’t give it a bad score. It’s not necessarily bad for storage and battery life. I recommend buying extra aftermarket batteries. Those batteries come with a charger and also have more battery than these. The batteries that are included can go up to 90 minutes on 720p 60fps. This could be a decent amount for a lot of people, but not enough for me playing airsoft. There is a limit on storage which is a bruh, but it is a good amount if you buy the recommended amount that is. It makes second guess if it’s worth recording over 1080p at times.Price: This was the best priced for function mid tier camera. It’s a bit more expensive now, but I originally got it at a cheaper price and a few percent off for a coupon. It’s still at a great price for the benefits of what it has compared to other cameras. However, now since the price is a little higher, you could justify getting other cameras due to the ability to have 4k, better support, and an established reputation.UI interface/buttons and app: I wouldn’t say the app to use for it and the interface on the camera to be hard, but it’s different. It is different but that doesn’t mean that it isn’t simple. It is simple in layout but how you go around and get places is a bit weird. Nothing to knock it or anything but I spend a lot of time missing something or pressing the wrong buttons.I do not have any photos because all of my footage is recorded and taking a few screenshots of it does not truly paint the image of what the quality is like. I also recorded in 720p 60 fps which doesn’t show the true capability of the camera. All in all, i’m very happy with my purchase.

Detailed Review: My experience PRO’s and CON’s

Ok, let me start from the beginning.Ordered this because I wanted a dash cam, an affordable one, and also because I am an outside evangelist and wanted something to wear on my person when I go out. So I seen this cam as opposed to the go pro.The package came very quick and hassle free. Everything, meaning the accessories were nicely packaged in their own individual baggies and the camera itself was tightly placed in a plastic mold hold. So it was nice and tight in the packaging.I looked at everything that was included and everything seemed to be accounted for.Now let me start off by saying that the user manual does come with an arrangement of how to attach certain parts of the accessories to acquire the desired mounting fixture. And the user manual is pretty basic and pretty accurate to what the machine does and how the menu is formatted and will appear and in the correct order. As far as the car mount that sticks to the window or dash, well plain and simple, it’s sort of crap. The sticky part didn’t stick at all so there was really no way for me to mount it because I wanted to check out the actual camera to make sure I was going to keep it. So that was a bummer. As far as the app goes. I was only able to see the displaying picture of what the actual camera was seeing, on my phone, only once. I was never able to do that again. Also you have to have the phone hooked up to the cameras wifi to be able to connect to the camera at all. But it’s useless because on the camera you can’t do anything like change to any other screen or do anything because in order to stay in wifi mode you have to stay on one screen, on the camera. Now that would be fine , IF you were able to see the live footage of the camera on the app. Because on the app, while the phone is connected to the camera’s wifi, all the settings are available on the app, but not the ability to view the live feed or even snap a photo??? That was also a bummer. Perhaps there is a way to, but I wouldn’t consider myself a technology delinquent in most ways and when it comes to most things, technology related. So I’m not sure why I was never able to get it going again. I was really bummed about that. Now to speak about the remote. The remote is a simple little photo or video optioned wrist worn velcro band. I was able to snap a photo from it with a very direct attempt towards the camera. I was also able to begin the video footage with the remote, but I was not ever able to stop the video footage from the remote, even when I held the remote right next to the camera. So that again was a bummer. Now to the camera again. The footage and quality of the footage for me, is absolutely GREAT! I mean I’m not a professional artist or anything close to the such, but I have eyeballs and I love what I see. Even the pics are pretty good. I didn’t have any problems shooting with the 4k, even while driving. Now when you review the footage on the camera itself it looks a bit lesser. But I would stick the sd card into my phone, because I edit my videos from my S7 Samsung anyways, and I really like the footage. I like the quality. It looks much better on the computer or on the phone that reviewing it on the camera itself. So don’t review your footage on the camera because it really looks much better on the phone or computer than on the camera. I really do like the footage. It’s perfect for what I wanted.THE DEAL BREAKER:Now to the conclusion of my review, the deal breaker is this. For some reason the camera will just turn off. The battery is full, but it just turns off. So I put it in my car with a different mount that I have and turned it on while I drove around to run errands, I did this for a couple days so that I could really test out the camera, and quality. And the most I was able to record all at once, was 37 minutes and some odd seconds. I turned on the camera, still full battery. But I’m just not sure what the problem is, or why it’s doing it. I am going to report it to the seller, but if I cannot get it figured out then I will return it and have to find something more reliable.I hope this helps someone out there.

    Great value

I’ve owned one other GoPro knockoff “action cam” before, and this is a definite improvement. The accessories are useful, the picture quality is good, and the price is great. I’m still a very satisfied customer with the drawbacks below that you should expect to live with. The battery life on my first use was not good. My wife and I took a long motorcycle trip and it drained the batteries in 18-30 minute spans of recording. However, on the way back home, I got a full hour+ of recording each battery swap. Not sure how to explain that, but I got much more footage of the journey on the way back home, and it all looked good. The helmet mount works fine, once you really tighten it down. The first leg of the trip I got some great video of the sky because the wind pushed the camera back. However, once I really cranked it down, it was fine. I don’t expect to use the camera for anything but this use case, so it’s fine for me. But I wonder how it would be if I had to change mounts for any reason, as the size and placement of the tightening screw is difficult to use, and I hope the plastic swivels and the threads of the nut hold up to that pressure.Sound sucks, but that’s to be expected. If you wanted to record audio to narrate your trip or do a motorcycle review or something, you should use a separate device. This will record a lot of wind noise, and any impacts you might encounter, and not much else. That’s fine by me.The one time I tried testing 4K recording, I ended up with a 10-15fps video clip. I’m guessing this is something the camera chose to compress down to due to the write speed of the memory card I had in it at the time. I haven’t had reason to record in 4K since then, because I valued recording time over resolution.Speaking of recording time, my entire journey, which amounted to about 8 hours each way (nearly 7 hours not counting breaks and fillups), fit on one 64GB SD card. I brought others, but never needed them. I uploaded my clips to Google Drive when we reached our destination, so at 1080p/30, expect about 8 hours on a 64GB card, maybe more.My first attempt at a “dashcam” for my motorcycle was using the handlebar mount. It held on well, but in the footage, it was vibration city. That’s why I used the helmet mount thereafter; plus that way it recorded everything I saw.And finally, the app is… quite bad. It’s unreliable, it doesn’t really transfer recorded video files, and it makes my phone get very warm with use, which is strange. It does have one use, which is functioning as a viewfinder when mounting your camera to the top of your dome. You can dial in the right angle, then close the app and move on.I do like the remote on the velcro strap. I don’t see how the strap can be long enough to attach to your person if you were snowboarding or something, but it stuck to my handlebars just fine. There is no feedback on it to assure you that you’re recording or have stopped recording, but once you get the routine down, it works well.In my virtually nonexistent free time, I’m trying to assemble all my clips from that trip into a sped-up timelapse video, and if I can add it to this review when it’s done, I will.If you just need an action cam that does the basics in HD+ resolution, this is a great value for your money. I like the battery charging dock and that it can charge off any USB port you have handy. The name is a little misleading, as this does NOT have a touchscreen, but you wouldn’t be able to use a touchscreen when mounted inside it’s waterproof housing anyway. Maybe it touched a dragon before it left the factory? Who cares? It’s pretty much the video quality of a GoPro at a fraction of the price, and that’s exactly what I was looking for.Additionally, as many motivated sellers on Amazon, this seller offers accessories in exchange for honest reviews. This of course adds value to this already good value package. Would recommend.

Decent video quality, horrible sound quality

If you try to use this to record speech, like an interview, the sound quality is terrible. If you’re recording action and can capture the sound another way, it’s great. I drilled a hole in my case in front of the microphone to even get the audio decently audible, which means that I now no longer have a waterproof case.Still, the price is nice and it records good video.

Exactly what I was looking for

I bought this action cam a little over a week ago and have used it pretty much on a daily basis, both as a car dash cam and also for recording my team’s matches (I coach volleyball). Before I usually buy anything, I try to do a good amount of research on the product I’m interested in as well as read a ton of reviews from people who have already purchased and used the item. I find that they’re really helpful in finding the ins and outs of the product.Scratching my head over some of the not so favorable reviews on this particular action camera. I feel like this was a great purchase in that it does exactly what the description states. The quality of picture from the Vision 3 is excellent. As a dash cam, I’ve used it on most of my drives and even reviewed much of the footage it recorded. I think the picture quality is great. The recording is smooth. I even used it during a night drive. It was raining and pretty dark but the camera still managed to pick up a decent amount of details under the conditions. In regular day time when there is natural light outside, it’s very very clear. As for night driving, I have found that when the roads are well lit (lamp posts, street lights, and even all the lights from other car headlights on the freeway), the camera is able to record very discernable images. The footage is absolutely “useable”.As a camera for recording sports, it’s perfect for what I need. It comes with a number of different mounts, including both an open and also a waterproof case (I pretty much use the waterproof case for everything at this point). The water proof case feels very sturdy and seems to offer a lot of protection not only from water but from perhaps scratches to the camera and its lense. When the camera is in the case, it does not pick up ambient noise very well. The camera doesn’t pick up sound very well in general, but I knew this would be the case after reading several reviews and I didn’t purchase it for the sound quality. It has different recording quality settings. I have used to 1080p at 30 fps (trying to save battery life and space on the card) and the picture quality is great. As I said, I coach volleyball, so the ball can travel at pretty high speeds. No problem for the camera to pick up the speed clearly and smoothly. As I mentioned earlier, I read a lot of reviews on items I’m thinking about buying. I read a small handful of bad reviews on this camera and I’m kind of scratching my head over them. I read some reviews complaining about picture quality or that the footage is “bumpy” because it doesn’t have image stabilization. Really?? I’ve watched a lot of footage from the camera as my dash cam (the camera has “Drive mode” so it can be used specifically as an alternative to cameras that are solely dash cams) and I have found them to be very clear, stable, and smooth. Kind of have to ask,”What are the bad reviewers looking for exactly when they complain about the image quality??” Some people give bad reviews based on sound quality. Are they expecting movie theater RPX level sound quality from this tiny little unit??I feel like you get a great little unit out of this Vision 3. In fact, you don’t just get what you pay for (which is relatively not much at all), I really feel like you get more than what you pay for from the price point. It comes with a lot of bells and whistles – great protective/waterproof case, various mounts, 2 batteries, and a remote control (really great, btw). I only wish it also came with a protective carrying case with the purchase, but no worries because I found one for about $9 here on Amazon! I didn’t want to pay $200+ for a “main” brand action camera and I feel like I got pretty close quality from this Dragon Touch. Ultimately, I guess it all just depends on what you’re looking for (as with anything else we buy), but I found exactly what I wanted out of this camera and I’m really happy I bought it.

Don’t cheap out–frustrating toy–menus and buttons poorly designed. Hard to use. Slow to boot up.

Jan 31, 2023. Don’t do it!! First off this model is now 5+ years old! I bought this camera in 2017 (at this exact same price) for the occasional cruise vacation and casual snorkeling photos with the thought that if it got lost, broken, stolen, whatever, not a big deal. It was a spur of the moment purchase as I was about to leave on a trip and I just wanted something delivered fast and cheap but I did not do any homework. I got both, fast delivery, and cheap. Beyond that, total frustration. I hate writing bad reviews and feel many people write them more from “user error” or “lack of patience” to read the instructions and a lack of general knowledge of the product. This is not me. This item, I tried to like it, I tried really hard. I read all the ching-lish instructions and before you write me off as being a stupid boomer techno nube, I am 54 and work in technology now, was the high school yearbook photographer, worked a few years in a pro camera shop, studied cinematography in college, I have owned, seen, and used MANY different types of analog, digital, still, and motion/video cameras over my ENTIRE life — used the whole range from cheapest “point and shoot” to the most expensive “wide formats” — I know a little bit about cameras, not a pro, but not ignorant and have way above average knowledge. I’ve used this camera on several (4-5+) trips and it is always a pain in the neck to figure out how to use it, each and every time, because it is not intuitive at all. The times when I have figured out how to use it, it is capable of taking a decent enough picture (for a cheap camera), but it is always such a challenge and I am always wondering if I am getting what I think I am getting and often I don’t. I just got home from a trip this time only to find out that I did not get a single photo of my reef snorkel in Roatan and then I accidently wiped it in the effort of looking for my photos. I had managed to get my old pics copied off before, but it still should not have been that easy to wipe. If you are getting older and need reading glasses the menus on this thing are impossible to read without them. Most of the time I am missing the action while messing with the camera. The buttons are not only NOT intuitive, but backwards from what you would expect. The power button is also the “mode” button so frequently I would end up power cycling and rebooting it when trying to get it into right photo mode. In addition, the longest it can go is 5 min before it shuts down, so I would try and snap random pictures just to keep it “awake”. On every power up (intentional or not) it is a wait of 10-15 seconds for it to reboot and get the screen up to “ready” just to try and get it into the right mode as it always wakes up in video mode instead of “still” photo — which is fine if you always do video, but bad for snapshots or any other mode. It won’t “wake up” in the mode that was used last which is totally frustrating to always have to futz around with menus just to snap a picture. I’m done! I got some good underwater pics with it a few years ago when in a kayak in shallow clear water with the remote trigger. Back when I was nearsighted and could see the tiny icons, the menus/buttons were confusing –even when I could see them — and after cataract surgery it is now totally hopeless to try to see and figure out what mode it’s in or what it’s doing — especially in the water, cheaters are required. I write this as I am now shopping for a real camera as this is a stupid frustrating toy and I am usually patient and very forgiving of cheap stuff that works. This works, just really bad software and design. Size and waterproof fine — just agony to use. Hope it was not too much of a rant. After 5 years, I’m done. (insert mic drop here!)

    Fantastic Buy. Great Camera

This does not come with a manual BUT IT GIVES A WEB SITE TO DOWNLOAD A PDF MANUAL which is very complete. About 20 pages with large print and photos. Extremely good manual. They should include a short version of the manual which stated the Mode button. After turning on (Long Press of Mode) you are in Video mode, Press a second time (short press) and it is Snap Shot Mode. Another press and it is Slow Motion mode.I bought it mainly for the time delay mode which is really great. I even figured how to calculate the record time vs playback time. Normally it takes 30 frames per second. In the 0.5, it is taking 2 frames per second (15 times fewer frames than normal). If you record for 60 minutes, divide the 60 by 15 (because you are recording 15 times less frames per second). On the 1s setting you are recording 1 frame per second which is 30 times less than normal, so for 60 minutes of record, you get (divide by 30) 2 minutes of play back. One thing to remember is if it has entered Screen saver mode, you have to press the record button twice, once to wake the camera up and the second time to begin recording.I’m still learning and have missed multiple shots from Operator error. I just need to use it more. It’s light weight but in my opinion, well constructed. I really like the remote control. The more I use it the more I enjoy it.If you have problem connecting to the computer via USB Port, It is probably a cable problem. When you attach to the USB on the computer, a Drop Down menu says, USB MODE, PC CAMERA, CHARGING MOSE. My drop down menu was intermittent caused by the cable. If you do not get the menu then try another cable

    Worked good on motorcycle trip

My husband is super happy with how simple this camera was to set up, and use with the remote on his wrist for his recent motorcycle trip. He isnt good with technology but this was a simple learning curve. Manual isn’t great and tiny print but menu is user friendly. The photos and video have good color and are clear. The video while riding, even with stabilization setting, was often too shaky between rough road and bike movement. Really glad to have found this alternative to expensive overrated Go Pro! I would recommend this camera with case.

A great, risk free Action Cam

The media could not be loaded.

I’ve been wanting to get an action cam for a while. I was interested in using it for work (educational camp) and recreational use when I would otherwise be too afraid to bring my DSLR. Go pro was always too far out of my budget. Then one day in a whim, I search action cam on Amazon and here we are. $50 wasn’t too steep for me, so I decided to go for it.The camera and all the accessories can in a nice, compact box. The batteries were fully charged (at least for me they were) so I was able to start it up right away.WORD OF CAUTION!!!Putting a Micro-SD card in it may automatically format the card! This is concerning if you put your phone’s SD card in it to try it out (like me). Thankfully, this was reverseable, but just don’t be like me!That aside, I have enjoyed this little camera! As I expected wihh any action cam, it is definitely confusing and hard to get use to. BUT! This camera comes with a VERY useful manual that is easy to understand. The other day, I decided to set it up during a wedding I was photographing. Although I didn’t give it hardly enough attention to get any results I wanted, I was pleasantly surprised with what I got, like the short time-lapse of the beginning of the ceremony. Using the included remote (which has a decent range) made it almost like a back-up photographer assistant during the ceremony. There is still A LOT I need to practice with and get use to on this camera. The quality isn’t something I would exclusively shoot a wedding with (duh). But even after two weeks with it, I am looking forward to being able to use it on future weddings, hikes, student sessions, and anything else! It really is a versatile camera that I would recommend to anyone. I will definitely consider this first if I decide I need another.

    Dumbest factory Setting

So overall, I loved this camera. I took it to mexico, and took it snorkeling and swimming with sharks and it was great! That being said. I know I missed a lot of footage because of the dumb factory setting to black out after like….30 seconds and it doesn’t keep recording. I’d seen the reviews and completely forgot about it by the time I received it. I think this is just a poor decision to have as the base factory setting when I cannot think of a single reason someone would want to have to constantly be pushing the button to keep it awake (I finally realized what was going on while snorkeling and managed to finally get a lot of footage because of that). If I were them, I’d change the default setting to no time out.

    Cool gadget!

Let me preface this by saying Iโ€™m a complete n00b when it comes to the action cam scene. I was looking for a cool camera to take on camping/hiking trips and to Disneyland and stuff. So after many hours of reading information and reviews on Amazon, I decided on this one.First off, once you figure out how to connect your smartphone to the camera via โ€œWiFiโ€ operating it remotely from your phone becomes a breeze (hint- you donโ€™t *actually* have to have a WiFi connection, or any sort of reception to do it). I not only take photos with my phone, I also download all of the photos from the camera onto my phone via the app, then I can really view them and post them on social media, save them to my google drive, etc.The battery life is decent. The picture quality is pretty impressive, but i have little to compare it to lol. I definitely recommend buying some sort of monopod or โ€œselfie stickโ€ to use with this. The main thing that would make this camera a 5-Star would be if it had a โ€œfront-facingโ€ mode. Even with using the phone to remotely take the photos, itโ€™s tricky to look down at your phone screen and then back up at your camera lens to take a photo and make sure everyone is in it. If I could see us on the camera screen (which would require a bigger camera with a screen next to the lens lol), it would be perfect.(Including sample photos for quality reference)

    Pretty impressed for the price

A few weeks before I got the Dragon Touch camera I had bought a Campark action camera for slightly more. I was having several problems with that camera – the camera was formatting the memory card to where I wasn’t able to use it on my Macbook (every other format wouldn’t work with the camera), audio was out of sync, sound was terrible. When I saw this for sale as a lightning deal that helped me decide to return the other camera and give this one a shot. Every problem I had with the Campark was completely fine with the Dragon Touch (the audio is still pretty bad, but you should’t expect much more with this camera). The formatting isn’t a problem, which was the main concern.I’m pleasantly surprised with this camera given the price point and have had a lot of fun with it. The only ongoing annoyance I have with all of the cameras that take this identical form is how annoying it can be to fully insert and take out the memory card.Overall it’s definitely well worth the money if you’re getting into action cameras and want to play around with one to see what its capabilities are. Some things to note (aka negatives)-Don’t expect to hear anything worth hearing when using the waterproof housing-4k is pretty lackluster (that might be a bit too kind), use 1080 (30fps) for best results. If not, expect to be disappointed by the real capabilities of this camera-The software, while it works, feels like it hasn’t been updated in about 6 years. If you can, plug the memory card directly into a reader to transfer to your computer of choice. If I want to upload something directly to my phone I use a lightning card reader that can be used with my iPhone

    Great for the price

I got this for a vacation, being on the lower end of cost I figured if I lost it in the ocean no big deal. It was far better than I could have thought. I didn’t use any of the attachments and just held it. The batteries seem to last quite a while and the pictures/videos turned out pretty darn good. I would recommend this camera if you’re looking for something on the amateur side of action cams.

    Great little camera

I have purchased this same (or close to it) camera about 10 years ago. The camera has served me well over those years. I have had it down to 100 ft scuba diving, I have used it while riding bike along our bike paths, I have used while hunting in the field. Both warmer days and and days right around 0 degrees. I decided to get another one that has a remote to record footage while I fish, dive and hunt. I am very pleased with the photos and videos I have taken. Stick with a winner!

    I regret this purchase

For outdoors it has good quality, for indoors, even during the day the image quality is absolute darkness. The battery lasts less than an hour, the audio recording without the cover is terrible. The worst purchase I have ever made.

Very impressive quality for a “knock-off” GoPro.

Yes, this is a knock-off GoPro camera. Is there a difference in quality? In my experience (having used both), no, there is not much of a difference. There may be just a couple of odd grammatical errors on some of the settings menus, but other than that, this camera is nothing short of impressive. It came with more than enough equipment to mount the camera to almost anything you want to mount it to. I have a mount on the outside of my car, inside the car, and still have several mounts left over. One will be going on my longboard shortly, and another will probably be going on my bike. Two batteries are included, with a charger that can charge both at once, using the micro usb cable (included). Power block that plug into the wall is NOT included, which is perfectly fine, because those are certainly not scarce (at least for me). If you are using this as a dash camera, you can record without a battery, though I don’t advise it, as you could corrupt the video files by shutting your car off before saving the video at the end of a drive. (I do not know this to be true, yet.)Overall, I highly recommend this camera if you don’t want to spend more money on a GoPro, but want something of comparable quality.I will be posting video footage taken from this remarkable camera, soon, as an update to this review.

For the price it is mostly okay

UPDATE: As mentioned in my original review I ultimately returned this and got a brand name camera. However, after using the brand name camera in a similar underwater condition as this one, I am bumping this back up to four stars. To be clear, this camera is absolutely no comparison to the brand name, but it is 6-7 times less expensive. If you have the time it is probably worth a try to order and then return if it doesn’t meet your needs. The customer services folks for this one were also very attentive.ORIGINAL: For the price it did okay especially if you intend to give to a child. The image stabilization had no effect that I could tell. The dynamic range (dark areas in bright situations) was pretty poor. I had intended to keep it until I tried it underwater. It was a bright day (could not see LCD) and the video/images were a bit dark in a pool. I probably could have adjusted the exposure, but there was no way to really tell since it was too bright to see the display. The connection to the Android app worked fine. The camera was simple to use. It would float in the protective housing with no additional flotation (fresh water).I ultimately returned and decide to get a brand name camera.

Dragon Action Camera – Not Durable, Bad Batteries, Not Worth It

Pros:- Low Cost- Acceptable picture quality.- Acceptable Video quality.Cons:- Frame rate is low so fast action videos and shots are poor.- Mediocre low light sensitivity.- Battery life is poor. Battery lasted less than 40 minutes at 78 F. before running out of power. It did not last one 5K Obstacle Course Race. When I tried to use it at a Winter race with a temperature of 28 F., the battery failed in less than 4 minutes. At 0 F. the battery failed with 1 minute.- The Waterproof case that comes with the camera is not durable. The lens cover is plastic and scratch severely after one use. The seals on the case are not good and let moisture into the case when used in the rain ( not full submersion).- The remote for the unit is not waterproof or even water resistant so you cannot use it outdoors or in a moist/wet environment.- The range on the remote for the camera is less than 5 feet so you cannot really use the remote for many purposes.Compared to other sports cameras, this Dragon 4K Action Camera appeared to be great value. There were lots of accessories, including a remote which seemed like a great feature.. I purchased it to replace another sport camera from Bremmer because the battery life is starting to degrade after 4 years of heavy use. I cannot find replacement batteries for the Bremmer camera so I thought I would buy the Dragon Action Cameral as an upgrade. It even came with 2 battery packs! Unfortunately, the camera build is of such poor quality that this camera is of little value. the batteries that came with the camera are low quality and have such short life that it makes the camera unusable for most sporting events. Even though the camera came with 2 battery packs, I don’t have time to change out the battery pack in the middle of a race. If I use the camera outdoors in a wet environment, I cannot open the waterproof case without risking getting moisture in the case and damaging the camera.Battery performance in cool or cold weather is abysmal. Even at normal room temperature, the battery life is no more than 40 minutes. When the exterior temperature falls below 40 F. the battery life is severely degraded. At around 30 F. the battery life is less than 10 minutes. At 0 F. the battery life is less than 1 minute. You are not going to uses this Dragon Action Camera when you are skiing, snowboarding, winter climbing, or taking pictures of your friends/family in winter outdoor events. Compared to my Bremmer Sport camera battery which has degraded with time, the new Dragon Action Camera batteries are terrible. The waterproof case is of poor quality also. The case seals do not prevent moisture infiltration in a wet environment. The seals are certain to fail if the camera is immersed in water. Also, the waterproof case is not durable or abrasion resistant. The lens cover on other sport camera cases I own are glass; or at least highly scratch resistant plastic. The waterproof case on my Bremmer sport camera which I paid US$35 for, has lasted more than 4 years of Obstacle Course Races (OCR’s) with being immersed in muddy water, dragged through the mud, hitting against wood and metal obstacles, and being carried in my hand without a scratch on the lens cover. The back side of that case is scratched up but the pictures and videos taken through that case lens cover are as clear as the day I purchased the camera. The Waterproof case on the Dragon Action Camera did not last one race before the lens cover became scratched to make the images obscured. At high resolutions, this Dragon Action Camera has a frame rate of 15 frames per second. Quick or live action shots are blurred and unusable. The camera has to be set at low resolution to get faster frame rates. Even then, fast action shots are not great. In conclusion, I recommend that you DO NOT PURCHASE THIS DRAGON ACTION CAMERA. Spend a little more money to get a camera and accessories that actually work for their intended purposes.

    Great for a seaside trip

The media could not be loaded.

What I like: It does the job! It’s cheap, waterproof, takes video and photos without any complications. This thing is going to last forever and is going to come on every seaside trip, capture the memories, and not stress me because I know it didn’t cost an arm and a leg. The photo of us rock climbing – that little bit of yellow poking out of my pocket – that’s this camera attached to a float on an adventure in Mallorca ๐Ÿ™‚ The rest of the photos and one video were all taken with this camera. Clearly, it does the job.Things to be aware of: It doesn’t come with a float or a memory card (or a way to connect the memory card to a laptop, unless you have a port), so I’d recommend getting those as well. You may also want a small flexible tripod.

Pretty disappointing overall. Lots of nice accessories. Full review below

I saw this Camera in a “Lightning Deal” and read some pretty decent reviews so I figured I’d try it out. I already own a Gopro Hero 3, so I have a frame of reference in comparing the quality of this camera. I have a pretty high standard as I have been a photographer and video geek for most of my life. I have to say… Overall, this camera performs like a toy.It arrived yesterday with a TON of Accessories…. I was excited to get it up and running so I charged the batteries fully and a short while later, fired it up. While the batteries were charging, I checked out all the cool attachments and gadgets that come with the camera. It’s really a nice assortment. The camera itself has a number of protective film coatings on the lenses and display. Make sure you take each one off before testing yours.I shot some brief video in 1080p/60FPS using a Sandisk Ultra Class 10 SD card. (The same card as I use in my GoPro). I shot without the protective outer case, so as to get the best quality the camera could produce. I shot indoors and outdoors as well as a very dimly lit closet area to test it’s auto exposure capabilities. I ATTEMPTED to connect the camera directly to my Windows 10 machine, (as I normally do for downloading from my GoPro) but, Windows just wouldn’t recognize the device. Plug, unplug, same results…. I noticed the camera would power cycle each time a connection was attempted but ultimately I just pulled the SD card and put it in a reader.I used VLC to check the quality of the videos and to capture some stills for review. I was pretty disappointed right away as I watched the results…. Firstly, the image produced was so heavy in compression artifacts that it reminded me of a child’s video recorder I had purchased for my kids in the past. Sure, the picture was 1080/1920 but the digital compression was just killing the quality. The color shift and Moire effect really dropped the overall look of the video and stills. The audio was tinney and also too compressed. It sounded as if I was talking through a couple of towels. Light gathering and exposure transition however were pretty damn good. The camera does not lag from bright scenes to very dark. The outdoor video that I shot was that of some trees blowing in the wind. I typically use trees and leaves in my test images because they are pretty contrasty with the sky and you can really tell the image quality of the lens and or shutter performance. Again, I was sadly disappointed. I am attaching a couple of frames from the video for you to make your own judgement.I ran more tests today, checking the quality of the various modes the camera operates in. (1080/30FPS, 720/120FPS,4K/30FPS as well as a few 16M photos.) All modes operated as they should and I think the 720/120FPS is a nifty feature but, I just cannot get over the actual image quality that is recorded. (Both audio and video are pretty sub-par)Overall, if image quality is a concern to you, I would look elsewhere…. This camera functions fine, (Except not being able to connect directly to a computer), and if you’re on a budget, it seems like it would work in a pinch. I am certain that I would never use this camera unless I have too or if I’m in a situation where I might be at risk of losing or damaging it.

    pictures tell a thousand words…

When I opened a box, I found out that there was a bubble on LCD screen. It might not affect video/picture quality but definitely should not be a QA passed product. I used it to record my golf swing form next morning. It was humid but not raining at all. I found lots of moisture on the lens cover so I had to open the case to wipe multiple times.Quality of video was acceptable but because of moisture, I was not able to see 4 corners clearly. I am not sure how good water proof it can provide in the water.Update on 12/3/2018:Changed from 2 stars to 3 stars.I already returned this item to Amazon right after I left a review. The seller sent a new one at no cost for re-testing today. I mentioned that there were bubbles and they told me there was an additional film. When I peeled off the first film, I noticed there were bubbles as before but after I peeled off the second one, it was clean. The fact that there were two films was never mentioned in the manual that needs to be updated (3rd and 4th pictures). I haven’t tried to use a new one in humid condition yet and will update one more time once I have a chance.Update 1/7/2019I used it when it was very foggy and didn’t see any moisture. Good water protection this time. Furthermore, I used “slow motion” to record my golf swing form and liked very much. I was able to see each step more precisely. I gave 4 stars instead of 5 since I was not sure it was recording or not when I used a remote button. It’s very hard to hear the signal when it started to record.

    Decent little camera

Let me start with this: I haven’t shot in 4k with this. I’ve only used 1080p/60FPS.Let’s get the bad stuff out of the way first. It definitely does not have a wide-angle lens. When reviewing some of the videos on my computer, I noticed that there isn’t the signature fisheye distortion at the outer edges of the screen. I found a video of a chap comparing this camera against a Hero 4 Session and Hero 5, both the GoPros had a wider viewing angle…And the spec on that is only 122 degrees.Sound quality is atrocious. I’ve actually opened it up and stuffed cotton in the dead space in front of the tiny little mic to cut wind noise. That worked well to improve the quality and you’d think it would muffle sound a bit, but speaking with it on my chest mount, it was still lacking in being able to capture my voice cleanly. I’ve since soldered on a 6mm x 3mm electret microphone, and while it doesn’t sound as bad, it still leaves more to be desired. The remote is…pretty big. Now, on to the good stuff! The picture quality is actually pretty good. The included mounts and accessories are welcome. And I haven’t used the waterproof case yet, but it looks to seal pretty well. With that being said, this will do you well enough to get some good videos, but I definitely wouldn’t put it in the action category, as that wide-angle lens is crucial for getting all that sweet, sweet action into the shot.=====Update 11/8/2018=====The seller reached out to me and offered me another camera. The one they shipped me is definitely better so far. I did a quick comparison of my Dragon, the replacement, and my GoPro Hero (2018), and the replacement definitely has a wide angle lens. It’s not as wide as the GoPro’s 122 degrees, but it looks like the GoPro set to medium FOV and that’s good enough for me. Picture quality is noticeably better than the Dragon as well. I’ll be taking the new camera out for a ride to see what sound quality is like. The Dragon still keeps the three -star rating, and I will give the new camera a rating after I see how it performs.

    great for simple use

My wife and I wanted a nice action camera to take with us on our Costa Rica vacation. We didn’t want to spend the money on a Go Pro so we researched other brands. We chose this one because it seems to have the same features as the other off brands but this one also came with a remote( forgot to take the remote with us) For the price is did the job. Although there are times when I had difficulty switching between video and camera because it seems like the button used wasn’t working properly but after playing with it for couple seconds it seemed to be fine. there are a few other times when I know I turned the camera off and when I attempted to turn it back on it was recording a video. so it seemed to have a few glitches in that regards. As far a picture an video quality some come out good others not so good. the videos seemed to turn out fine and the picture quality seemed pretty good. there were a few that were a little blurry but I think that may have been more user error than the camera itself. some of the videos the sound didn’t come out like I was expecting it to and some videos it recorded sound and others it didn’t. not sure why but that was one of the disappointing things that seemed to bug me.overall for the price I think it worked fine. cant expect to much from a $40 camera.overall for the price paid its a good camera with decent quality and pretty good pictures. If you want a good action camera for your vacations or other activities without breaking the bank this one will do the jobupdated 09/08/2018No sure if the camera has a software issue or if its meant to do what it does but every time I turn it on it immediately starts taking a video. Its getting really annoying having to keep going to the videos and deleting 3-4 second videos it keeps taking of my feet every time I turn it on. At this point I wish i would have spent a little more money on better name camera. lesson learned.

PSA: Apple/Mac Instructions – Do Before You Record Anything!

So a lot of other reviews on here are pointing out the compatibility with Macs (and even iPhones) isn’t great since: – the app is slow + buggy, annoying to use and means your phone storage fills up – the microSD card wasn’t readable by my mac after being in the action cameraEasy Set Up Instructions:1. insert your microSD card into your mac2. open up the “disk utility” application3. Click erase and set the format to MS-DOS FAT[WARNING: THIS ERASES ALL FOOTAGE SO BETTER TO DO THIS RIGHT WHEN YOU GET IT]4. eject and remove memory card5. stick memory card into the action camera6. action camera will prompt you to format it again, say yes. After these steps, I was able to take footage, stick the card back into my mac, and see the content without any issues. Of course, I only realized this AFTER I had come back from my trip but hoping this saves at least a few of you.Overall, the collection of gear is really useful for mounting to anything. Case was definitely waterproof and could take a beating (went surfing with it several times so far). Only 1 star off because the app isn’t a great experience.
